Valerie is a New Orleans native who went to Louisiana State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology. Since then, she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in December of 2018 through the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences in Austin, TX. While in school, she chose to take specialized manual courses including advanced evaluation and manipulation of the craniofacial, cervical, and upper thoracic spine as well as functional analysis and management of the lumbo-pelvic-hip complex.
She elected to go on an additional internship which advanced her expertise in vestibular rehabilitation, where her interests grew in treating people with vertigo and post-concussion syndrome. Pursuing her other interests, she compiled a literature review on the current evidence on incorporating yoga in the physical therapy management of postpartum cesarean section clients.
She enjoys the advantages that yoga offers for the mind and body and implements the aspects of her practice into her patients’ interventions accordingly. Her spare time is spent with her husband, Zac, and their dog, Simcoe, in the many adventures that Austin has to offer such as going climbing, trying out different coffee shops and food trucks, and hiking around the Greenbelt.
